JOZI FILM FESTIVAL ENTRIES NOW OPEN

PICTURE: Jozi Film Festival

The first multi-genre film festival in the City of Gold is now in it's sixth year.

The Jozi Film Festival began in 2012 and was initially created to provide a platform for local filmmakers and reach audiences under serviced by traditional cinemas.

The Johannesburg-based festival began accepting entries from around the world in 2014 and is now firmly established as one of the sub-continent's leading film festivals. The Jozi Film Festival is proudly independent, and a supporter of independent films.

The 2017 festival takes places from 21-24 September over a four-day period at various locations in Johannesburg and Soweto.

For the first time this year, we are thrilled to be partnering with Discovery Channel to launch a continent-wide search for African filmmaking talent.

The new Discovery Channel Don't Stop Wondering Award is open to all African filmmakers, 18 years or older.

We are calling for two-five minute documentary films that showcase and celebrate unique African stories while capturing Discovery’s ethos of sparking curiosity.

All other JFF categories (feature films, short fiction films, documentary films (short and long) and student films) are open to South African and international filmmakers.
