BIG WINS FOR PARAMOUNT AFRICA AT THE 16TH SOUTH AFRICAN FILM AND TELEVISION AWARDS


The winners in the various categories have been announced following the 16th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS), which took place this past weekend. Under BET Africa productions, Nthati Moshesh received Best Actress In A Telenovela (BET Africa Original, Isono) and DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected took home the prize for Best Structured Soapie Reality Show. Ghosted Africa: Love Gone Missing received Best Docu-Reality on MTV Africa, a youth and entertainment channel.


The winners were announced at a virtual show hosted by media personality Khutso Theledi, comedian and TV personality Mpho 'Popps' Modikoane, and TV presenter Ryle De Morny. The hosts did a fantastic job of directing the proceedings while Lasizwe and Palesa Tembe handled the red carpet.


Monde Twala,Senior Vice President of Editorial and General Manager Paramount Africa and Peer Lead, BET International says the calibre of talent nominated in the various categories was strong, making it a privilege to be nominated. “Being honoured by the SAFTAS as one of the exceptional leaders in the Television and Film industry is humbling and having won these awards during heritage month reaffirms our vision to continue to tell and spotlight african storytelling, uplift African talent and culture on the global content arena.”


DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected competed in the category for Best Structured Soapie Reality Show alongside Pastor Wants a Wife and Uthando Nes'thembu. Tsholofelo Matshaba, Kgomotso Christopher, Mary-Anne Barlow, and Sindi Dlathu were Nthati Moshesh's competitors for Best Actress In A Telenovela. Ghosted Africa: Love Gone Missing, which competed against Abandoned and A Dog For Life, won the Best Docu-Reality award for the African premiere of the well-known US reality series.
