Randall, Busiswa and Fareida announced as the first list of panellists of the #RoastofPearl

The ever-bold Pearl Thusi, celebrated actress, media personality, and entrepreneur, is about to take the heat in one of the most anticipated comedy events of the year. The Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi, promises to be an unforgettable show of biting humour, cutting wit, and, of course, Pearl's signature flair. The #RoastofPearl will air on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) on December 8, 2024, at 21:00 CAT.

Adding to the excitement, Comedy Central has announced the first three personalities joining the Roast panel: media icon Randall Abrahams, powerhouse singer Busiswa, and actress-comedian Farieda Metsileng. Each brings a unique approach, eager to roast the “Black Pearl” while keeping their fellow Roasters in check.

Randall Abrahams, famously dubbed “Mr. Nasty” on Idols SA, warns that he won’t be holding back. “Celebrity egos don’t impress me, and I have no intention of massaging any here. I respect Pearl and my fellow Roasters, but I’ll take great pleasure in cutting them down to size. If you’re in this business, you should know how to handle the heat.”

Busiswa, who styles herself as “Her Majesty the Queen” on social media, is equally ready to turn up the fire. “Pearl may be used to the spotlight, but she won’t see what’s coming from my side. I’m locked, loaded, and ready to roast – from one queen to another!”

Farieda Metsileng, known for her quick wit and online persona, Pharoahfi, can hardly wait to stir things up. “Too many celebrities take themselves way too seriously. I’m here to bring some laughs and make everyone lighten up, especially Pearl and my fellow Roasters. It’s going to be a night of epic roasts and non-stop laughs!”

If you’re familiar with previous Comedy Central Roasts of South African stars like Kenny Kunene, Somizi Mhlongo, AKA, and Khanyi Mbau, you’ll know what’s in store. Now, it’s Pearl’s turn to be on the receiving end of razor-sharp jabs and unforgiving humor. Known for her outspokenness and often controversial opinions, Pearl has always divided fans, and this Roast will give her critics a fresh opportunity to voice their thoughts – albeit in a humorous way.

Pearl, who made her mark internationally with roles in Quantico and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, has also succeeded as a brand ambassador and entrepreneur, even breaking into DJing. Her unapologetic stance on personal expression has both inspired and sparked debate. Just last year, she made headlines in a sheer, body-revealing outfit, fiercely defending her right to celebrate her body on her own terms.

As the countdown begins for the Roast, Pearl is ready to give as good as she gets. “After many years in the industry, I know what it means to handle pressure. I’m bringing my A-game, and if the Roasters think they’ll make me squirm, they’ve got another thing coming!”

Get ready for a night of sizzling humour as the Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi brings the heat on December 8. With nothing off-limits, this will be a Roast that Africa won’t soon forget!
