The 2024 "BET Hip Hop Awards" transformed Las Vegas into the ultimate celebration of hip hop, with Kendrick Lamar dominating the night by taking home an incredible eight awards. Lamar claimed some of the biggest honors, including Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, and Song of the Year for his chart-topping hit "Not Like Us." His impressive sweep solidified his status as one of the greatest forces in modern hip hop.
Other big winners included Metro Boomin and Future, who each secured three awards, while The Alchemist walked away with two wins, further elevating the night of hip hop excellence.
Hosted by legendary rapper Fat Joe, the night kicked off with high energy as he performed his classic anthem "Make It Rain," setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration of the culture. The show featured electrifying performances, explosive collaborations, and surprise guests, making it a night to remember.
Memphis legend Juicy J took the stage with his hit "SOMN," only to shock the crowd by bringing out 2 Chainz for a powerful performance of their fan-favorite "Bandz Make Her Dance," igniting the audience. The energy only ramped up when viral sensation Bossman DLow hit the stage with his hit "Shake Dat A** (Twerk Song)," followed by a heart-thumping rendition of "Get In With Me."
This year’s event wasn’t just about the music—it also highlighted the importance of community and civic engagement. Congressman Rep. Steven Horsford took the stage with a powerful message, encouraging the hip hop community to use its voice and vote to protect their rights.
Juicy J wasn't the only artist to deliver surprises. Miami rap queen Trina brought the heat with her performance of classics like "Da Baddest B***h" and "Pull Over," and delighted the audience when she brought out Yung Miami for an epic 305 collaboration.
Soulja Boy took the crowd on a nostalgic trip back to 2007 with his hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," hyping up the crowd even further by bringing out Roscoe Dash for their party anthem "All The Way Turnt Up." Rising star 310babii also lit up the stage with his viral hit "Soak City (Do It)," adding to the night’s high-octane energy.
The night also celebrated hip hop’s icons, with GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Travis Scott receiving the prestigious "I Am Hip Hop" award. Presented by Teyana Taylor and Afropop sensation Tyla, Travis was honoured for his remarkable contributions to the genre, delivering hits like "FE!N" and "Goosebumps."
During breaks, DJ Holiday kept the vibe alive with a tribute to the late Rich Homie Quan, playing his hit "Type of Way," followed by the iconic "Swag Surf," as the crowd danced in unison.
The night was full of surprise appearances, epic throwbacks, and show-stopping performances, including Bay Area legend E-40, who delivered a medley of his hits like "Tell Me When to Go" and "Snap Yo Fingers," and newcomer Big Boogie, who brought out GloRilla for a fiery performance of their hit single "BOP."
Closing out the night, 2 Chainz returned to the stage for a grand finale, performing hits like "Birthday Song," "I Luv Dem Strippers," and "I'm Different," leaving the crowd in an ecstatic frenzy.
The 2024 "BET Hip Hop Awards" proved once again why it’s the biggest night in hip hop, honoring the legends, celebrating the culture, and setting the stage for the next generation of hip hop greatness.
