BNXN on 'Bad Since ’97' I was born on 14th May 1997, and a lot of people have this misconception that, “Oh this guy just started singing 2021, just a newbie,” but I want people to know that this is a talent I’ve been nurturing since birth, and this is a talent I’ve realised that could change my life and the whole soundscape of Nigeria. I wanted people to relate to it with my date of birth and understand that this here has been nuts from time. I want them to trace it back to original roots, because I took so much time on this project and I wanted to connect everything that I picked up growing up, the sounds. I wanted the project to speak for itself and say “I’ve been this talented and this good since when I was born.” BNXN on perfecting his sound for new project Why I called this thing a project and not just an EP is because I took a lot of time and it involved a lot more hands than normal. Usually people only get the best of everybody when it’s time to do an album, but this time I wanted to get the best out of an EP because I personally wasn’t satisfied with the sound - not necessarily the music, but the quality of the sound - from my last project, and I felt it was my obligation to step it up a notch. I have a sound that if it’s not well engineered and well structured, it might sound a little off to some people so I decided to make sure I perfected that on this project. BNXN on chemistry with Wizkid Nobody, nobody makes better music than me and Wiz together. It’s not possible! I promise you. We have the most amazing chemistry ever. You’ll hear subsequent songs [together] that are going to come out, bro! It was after [‘Many Ways’] I was able to certify it, because there was ‘Mood’ and there was others but bro, how he flowed on it, how he took the lyrics out. He’s on another level when working with me.
