SAVAGE ON HOW HE FEELS ON THE VERGE OF RELEASING HIS DEBUT EP
Honestly, I feel blessed because, the truth is, I never expected it to go this well. I’m just dumbfounded. I put in a lot of work and all of that, and I just laid it out and, yeah, everything coming out proper.
SAVAGE ON “CONFIDENT”
My producer, that's Tempoe, he just did his thing, called up Buju to do the magic and everything just happened. The song is pretty clear. We're talking about this girl and all of that, but at the same time, we're trying to promote African confidence. And we made magic.
SAVAGE ON HOW HIS LIFE HAS CHANGED AFTER “CONFIDENT”
I get little messages every day, the tags, everything. And the other time I was in the mall, I went to Starbucks to get something. And in Starbucks they write your name on the cups and all of that. And she was like, "What's your name?" I said, Savage. And she was like, Yeah, the "Confident Savage?" I'm like, yeah. She's like, "Are you serious? Let me take a picture then. Let me take a picture." It's so crazy. It felt good.
SAVAGE ON PERFORMING “CONFIDENT” LIVE
It was fire. I went for the video shoot in Nigeria two months ago and Buju had a show and he just put me up and we had a performance together. That was crazy. Also in Cape Town. I've been host there twice and it's crazy. It's crazy.
SAVAGE ON DECIDING HOW TO FOLLOW UP A HIT LIKE “CONFIDENT”
My management is working. That's where my management come in place. We got a lot of heat. Hits and hits and hits. So we just decide together, we'll play the song. “Okay, let's put this up next. Let's go crazy.”
Before I dropped “Confident,” “Rosemary” was my favourite. Before I dropped “Confident,” I was always banging “Rosemary.” I was like, “Rosemary,” it's fire. It's fire. Then I dropped “Confident.” And the feedback made me fall in love with “Confident’ even more.
SAVAGE ON HIS AMBITIONS FOR THE EP
Global sensation. That is just all I can say. Global sensation, because every song is a hit. Every song is a hit. Trust me when I say it's a hit, I mean it. Trust me. Because I've been working on the album for about a year now. Now I'm ready for the world to listen to the album now.
SAVAGE ON HIS AMBITIONS OUTSIDE OF MUSIC
I love fashion. And I got my own brand, my own fashion brand, Savage Space. Which was popping because when I dropped my first collection last year, on the first day I was sold out.
And it was crazy. I have a big picture out here. The world needs me. The world needs someone like me who can go crazy. In fashion-wise, music-wise, I'm coming. I'm coming with fire. I'm coming with fire.
